Sea Power Naval Combat in the Missile Age

Currently Playing: Pre-Deployment ASW Training off San Diego | SCORE ASWEX 85-2

In this Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age playthrough, we take on SCORE ASWEX 85-2, a custom mission built around the real Southern California Offshore Range off San Diego. Grab the mission here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3796433049 Rather than a normal combat scenario, this mission is designed to recreate what a Cold War-era pre-deployment ASW exercise might have felt like. Our surface group is operating on the SCORE training range with Afloat Training Group evaluators onboard, while a West German Type 206 submarine, U22, plays the opposing force. The mission includes a recreated training-range environment, civilian traffic, biologics, range-control interaction, exercise restrictions, and the requirement to properly detect and hold the submarine before bringing aviation assets into the hunt. This mission was built to give Sea Power players a different kind of challenge: not simply destroying an enemy submarine, but experiencing the process of training, evaluation, and pre-deployment readiness that went into preparing Cold War surface ships for ASW operations.
