Sea Power Naval Combat in the Missile Age

Currently Playing: EP.3 USS Philadelphia's Secret Mission: Sink the Soviet Tender! | Sea Power

We're heading into dangerous waters off the coast of Cuba in our next episode of Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age, continuing our playthrough of the Crossing the Line '86 campaign! This time, we're commanding the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Philadelphia (SSN-690) on a special mission to penetrate Soviet defenses in the Gulf of Cazones. Our primary objective is to locate and destroy a Soviet Don-class submarine tender anchored near the Bay of Pigs. The tender has been replenishing Soviet Foxtrot-class submarines operating against Caribbean shipping, and the U.S. Navy has decided it's time to put an end to those operations. But getting to our target won't be easy. Soviet Foxtrot submarines, a Krivak-class frigate, and patrol boats are guarding the approaches. We'll need to rely on stealth, careful sonar employment, and our torpedoes to get the job done before withdrawing into deeper water.
