Barbara West was a protege of Toussaint McCall's who hailed from Monroe, LA and recorded a few sides for the Ronn label in1968. She wasn't really motivated to be a star however, and she just kind of faded into the background after several strong efforts. Despite that personal lack of enthusiasm, she had a wonderful souful voice and could have become more than she did.
