Get early fab feedback on via counts and copper pours by inviting your manufacturer to comment directly on your design in Altium Develop: https://www.altium.com/develop?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=altium-academy-shorts&utm_content=pcb-via-stitching-target-your-vias-dont-carpet-the-board PCB via stitching is easy to overdo, and every extra via adds to your fabrication cost. In this Altium Academy Short, the presenter explains why he'd rather place a specific via where each trace changes layers than fill the board with an array of stitching vias, especially once components start crowding the top layer. Via stitching itself is simply a regular array of vias that connects two planes, or ties a copper pour on the top layer to the bottom layer. Over a large ground pour, those stitching vias end up connecting everywhere.
