Altium Develop takes your drone board from schematic to fabricated PCB with component availability, alternates, and early manufacturer feedback built into the project: https://www.altium.com/develop?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=one-minute-pcb-design-reviews&utm_content=one-150-ma-regulator-runs-this-drone-pcb In this drone PCB design review, Tech Consultant Zach Peterson takes one minute to look over a community-submitted toy drone controller built around an STM32. Zach points out that every power domain is tied to a single VDD rail fed by a 150 mA regulator, which leaves very little current for the motors. He recommends swapping the USB Micro-B connector for USB-C, and flags a footprint outline under the STM32 that he first mistook for a through-hole component, on a package that has no die-attach pad. Zach also explains why thermal reliefs on vias add no value, and shows a pin where the thermal is applied to the small piece of copper instead of the large ground pour. The full review linked below covers every improvement, making this a quick checklist for anyone designing a flight controller, motor driver, or battery-powered STM32 board. ▶ Watch the deeper dive: https://youtu.be/c2uHuAmFq54 💡 Watch Next: • Full Toy Drone Controller Design Review: https://youtu.be/MYtr7wjR2iA • Shrink This Drone PCB to 6 Layers | 1 Min PCB Design Review: https://youtube.com/shorts/3I729yJfMs8 • Add Thermal Vias to This Drone ESC | 1 Min PCB Design Review: https://youtube.com/shorts/5HHXSIakEhI • When to Apply Thermal Relief Pads to Your PCB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=td1v-rW8U3I • Microcontroller-Based Hardware Design With Altium Designer - #3 USB C: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t67KcQHhIC4 🔹 Connect with Zach: Want your design reviewed by Zach?
