Altium Develop gets your HDI board from schematic to a fabricable stackup faster, with integrated manufacturing quotes that catch unbuildable via definitions before your fab does: https://www.altium.com/develop?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=one-minute-pcb-design-reviews&utm_content=this-nrf5340-board-needs-microvias Tech Consultant Zach Peterson reviews a community-submitted nRF5340 audio interface PCB and finds a stackup that doesn't match the parts on it. The board includes a stack-up and impedance table, but its blind and buried vias are defined as mechanically drilled with 0.1 mm plated through-holes — a spec no fabricator can build. Because the nRF5340 ships in a chip-scale package, this design needs laser-drilled microvias and an HDI stackup defined to match. Zach also covers why 1 mm test points on data lines are oversized, how to replace NC markings with a proper design variant so unfitted parts drop out of the BOM, and a quick fix for missing reference images in schematic sheets. A full breakdown of this board is coming in a longer video on the Altium Academy channel. 💡 Watch Next: • FULL-LENGTH nRF5340 AUDIO INTERFACE BREAKDOWN — https://youtu.be/8QQXOEOoSq4 • Mechanical Drilling vs. Laser Drilling in PCB Vias: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RDYOek36aGc • HDI PCB Stackup Breakdown - Etching Weight Via Spacing, & More: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nmf0GTupQlg • How to Use Blind and Buried Vias: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nTHNlQ-XBmI • Test Points in High-Speed PCB Design: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzADUgKH_cE • How to Get Started with Variants in Altium Designer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYgyhKbeEk0 🔹 Connect with Zach: Want your design reviewed by Zach?
