The TurboGrafx-16 hosted a whole lot of shooters. It was kind of the console's thing, really. Blazing Lazers by Compile ranks right up near the top of that enormous heap. A fast, player-friendly game with incredible stage variety, goals and mechanics that constantly change but still explore each new idea to its fullest, a brilliantly streamlined weapons system, and enough nuance to its power-up scheme to keep players on their toes while also giving them tons of tactical options, Blazing Lazers embodies everything fun and cool about the shoot-em-up. (Also, it's based on a movie, but that hardly matters.)
