We move beyond launch day for TurboGrafx-16 and onto the remainder of the 1989 lineup, beginning here with a pair of games that we have previously seen on Master System and/or NES. The fantastic renditions of both R-Type and Fantasy Zone that showed up in the early days of TurboGrafx offer a truly compelling case for the power of the machine. These are not pretty good interpretations of the arcade originals; for all intents and purposes, they ARE the arcade games. Playable at home! On your own TV! Honestly amazing stuff for 1989, and arguably even more impressive than the Genesis adaptations of Altered Beast and Space Harrier II.
