Hey, it's another arcade shooting game! On TurboGrafx-16! Who'd've thunk it, really? Dragon Spirit has the distinction of being the least impressive and least interesting and least fun shooter in the console's 1989 lineup. This is less of a condemnation than you might think! The TurboGrafx-16's shooter library so far has been preposterously good. I am not a Shooter Guy, but even I am impressed. And Dragon Spirit is... fine. It's a reasonably faithful port of the coin-op, despite some compromises, but its design feels limited and old-fashioned compared to its peers. And the giant dragon you control has a giant hit box, which makes it incredibly difficult... especially combined with the linear power-up system. Still, it's pretty OK! There's actually not a bad shooter in the bunch here.
