Nothing breaks loudly when they are — your scene still renders, no red errors. But every material in your project ends up looking slightly off, and the wrongness accumulates across a whole level. This video is the audit. Four import settings decide whether your textures are correct or subtly broken: - sRGB — on for color, off for data (and why getting this wrong silently ruins your ORD) - Sampler Type — what to pick, and how to read the mismatch error in the compile log - Compression format — BC1, BC4, BC5, BC7, and which one to use for what - Texture Group + Streaming Pool — keeping your VRAM budget honest The good news is most import pipelines (Megascans Bridge, the Texture Graph) handle these for you.
