When scattered energy returns to the source. Ordinarily our energy is scattered. The mind moves continuously between opposites. Like and dislike, hope and fear, success and failure. In the yogic tradition this dual movement is symbolized by the sun and the moon, Pingala and Ida. The mind swings between these poles throughout life. But something happens when the seeker begins to abide in Spanda. As surrender deepens and personal struggle dissolves, the energy that was moving outward in countless directions begins to gather. This is symbolized by entry into Sushumna, the central channel, the path beyond duality. The sun and moon are not destroyed and the world is not rejected. Their restless movement is absorbed into a deeper stillness. Just as rivers merge into the ocean, the scattered energies of life return to their source. The same world remains, but the experiencer is transformed. This is Spanda Karika Verse 24.
