The world is not a prison. It is a divine play. This verse tells us how an awakened being sees the world. Not as a burden. Not as a prison. Not as something to escape. But as the divine play of consciousness. The word Krida, play, is important. Play is effortless, creative, spontaneous, an expression of fullness. A child plays not because something is missing. The universe is not the result of necessity. It is the joyful expression of infinite consciousness. Ordinarily we feel that life is happening to us. The awakened one discovers that life is unfolding within consciousness. This does not mean he becomes careless, or that suffering is ignored. Joy and sorrow still appear. But the background has changed. Think of an actor on a stage. He laughs, he cries, he grieves, yet never forgets who he truly is. Liberation here is not sitting in a cave. It is a way of seeing. One lives fully, works fully, loves fully, yet inwardly remains free. This is a Jivanmukta, liberated while living. This is Spanda Karika Verse 30.
