The nectar of immortality is within you. As we arrive at the final verse of this chapter, the sages leave us with a remarkable declaration. They do not offer another practice. They do not introduce a new technique. They point directly to the recognition we have been exploring. This alone is the attainment of immortality. Not the immortality of the body, which changes and passes, but the recognition of that which never comes and never goes. The eternal light of consciousness. The Self is not something to be acquired. Recognition is not acquisition. It is remembrance. The verse then makes a profound statement. This itself is initiation. Traditionally, initiation is a sacred transmission from teacher to disciple. But the highest initiation is the recognition of one's true nature. And what does it bestow? The state of Shiva. Not in some future life, not after death, but here and now. The wave recognizes its identity with the ocean. The individual recognizes its identity with Shiva. This is Spanda Karika Verse 32.
