Hello friends! I have been part of a community flax to linen project in my city and this is the vlog of me doing stuff over the last 6 or so months. I saw an article about Nomad City's Welkom in Vlasselt project, wherein they wanted to revalue the flax industry in our region (because let's be fair, Flanders was known for their flax and linen as much as for their wool) and in the meantime also do something for the community. So I, together with twenty something other inhabitants of Hasselt, planted flax in my garden. We also made all the tools, so the brake, the ripple, the scutching board and knife and some turkish spindles ourselves. By mid August we got together and actually started spinning the flax fibers into actual linen yarn. The plan is to weave a tablecloth with the linen to have a nice party on.
