Season premiere. Dennis is gone. Mac has filled the void with a Dennis sex doll that arrived in a custom crate ("something Dennis-shaped to fill the hole") which he insists is strictly for companionship. The gang also has a new member: Cindy (Mindy Kaling), a progressive-minded woman who joined during Dennis's absence and believes Paddy's has genuinely evolved. The plan: sell liberal whine (spelled with an H — it's a pun) to progressives while baiting conservatives into a first amendment march at the rival bar around the corner. Mac is jacked. Frank plays tuba. The doll ends up going everywhere the plan did not intend. The Waitress drinks a bottle of liberal tears wine, sleeps with the doll, and breaks up with Charlie for it — telling him to leave his own apartment. Cindy figures out exactly what happened the night before and says it out loud. Dennis walks into the bar mid-chaos: "Or will it?" Frank's immediate response: "Kill it." Dennis is back. For now. Post-reaction: both hosts expected Dennis to be gone at least the whole season given AP Bio — episode one was a genuine surprise. Discord's read: Dennis doesn't have to be in the room to have ultimate power over these idiots; he lives rent-free in all of them. Mac getting jacked: he pitched getting studio-funded fitness the same way he pitched getting fat, and they went for it. The Waitress relapsing and breaking up with Charlie for the doll was the wildest beat. "Make Paddy's Great Again" turned out to be about bringing Dennis back, not about politics. Both hosts: well played. Season 13 is a go.
