It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 10 Episode 3 REACTION | "Psycho Pete Returns" Syntell and Rekkai are back in the sunny streets for Season 10 Episode 3 — and this one hits different. It's Always Sunny Season 10 Episode 3, "Psycho Pete Returns," brings back Psycho Pete from the high school reunion episode. The gang is excited. Pete is healed. The gang is devastated. Pete spent years in a mental institution and came out the other side with social anxiety and depression, a prescription, and zero desire to scream in babies' faces anymore. The gang takes this as a personal failure and immediately tries to get him back on the rails. To help, they recruit Rickety Cricket — now wearing a full cloak, operating a glory hole in the back of the bar, and negotiating absolution by the sixer. Frank meanwhile discovers his old facility has been shut down due to budget cuts, goes looking for his childhood imaginary friend Froggy, and finds out from the doctor that he was Froggy all along. Dennis and Dee separately fake psychological disorders to get committed and find Pete a new facility. Dennis threatens to skin someone and make luggage out of them. The doctor believes him immediately. The solution they land on is putting Pete on a Greyhound bus to Los Angeles. The post-reaction goes somewhere real: the actual history of mental institution closures and their connection to the rise of Skid Row, what the show is saying about how society handles mental illness, why social anxiety and depression are arguably worse now than when this aired in 2015, and the comparison between this kind of social commentary comedy and George Carlin, Dave Chappelle, and Richard Pryor. Also a deep appreciation for David Hornsby — not just as Cricket, but as a writer and producer who clearly has his fingerprints all over this show.
