How to TRUST Allah When Life Gets Hard (True Tawakkul) | Hisham Abu Yusuf . Allah can provide with or without the means. Maryam (AS) was given a child without a husband. Ibrahim (AS) was given a child in old age. The birds leave their nests empty in the morning and return full in the evening – no savings, no refrigerator, no bank account. Only trust in the One who provided yesterday will provide today. He warns against putting too much hope in tools, people, or processes (CVs, marriage apps, locks on doors) because Allah will let you with your strength in those things to teach you that only He never disappoints. The One who put me in this situation is the only One who can take me out. If He willed it for me, it is the best for me. - The Illusion of Control: We think we control everything – genetics, food, careers, marriages. But Allah does things with no means (asbab) to remind us of our powerlessness. Remember the times Allah gave you something you never asked for – that builds tawakkul. - Maryam & Ibrahim's Reactions: Both were shocked at receiving children without normal means. We get so used to "my CV brings the job" and "this process brings the child" that we forget Allah creates directly. He can provide with or without means. - The Birds' Tawakkul: The Prophet ﷺ said if you trusted Allah properly, He would provide for you like the birds – they leave empty stomachs in the morning and return full in the evening. But note: they leave early. They work hard. They exhaust themselves. Tawakkul is not sleeping until 12 PM. - The Prophet's ﷺ Early Mornings: Everything he ever sought – knowledge, closeness to Allah, military victory – he started in the early morning (4-5 AM). That is the secret. Do your job, then say: "O Allah, I've done my part. Now it's Your turn." - The Lock on Your Door: Are you trusting the lock or Allah? You say "Bismillah, tawakkaltu 'ala Allah" and lock the door. But the lock could fail. The friend could steal your money. Allah sends these shocks to teach you: only He will never disappoint you. - The Pearls in the Sea: Many want to theorize about pearls from the shore, talk about them with friends, imagine they will manifest. But only those who take the plunge – dive deep, hold their breath, take the risk – will get the pearls. - Imam al-Shafi'i's Poetry: "If you seek high places but snore at night, you'll never get there. Don't you see that to get pearls, people dive deep into the sea?" - The Hadith of Qadr: "What hit you was never meant to miss you. What missed you was never meant to strike you." This is the foundation of contentment (qana'a). You try your best, exhaust yourself, seek ihsan – then whatever Allah gives you, you are happy.
