The Prophet ﷺ described a man whose food, drink, and clothes were from haram – raising his hands to the sky saying "O Lord, O Lord" – and asked: "How can Allah respond to him?" Myth #2: Dua Is a Transaction. Many of us treat dua like ordering from Amazon – click, check out, expect delivery. But any relationship based only on demands is broken. Would you speak to your spouse only to ask for things? Then why do that with Allah? Dua is a conversation with the One you love. Myth #3: Dua Must Be in Arabic. Zakariya (AS), Musa (AS), Ibrahim (AS), Maryam (AS) – none of them spoke Arabic. Speak to Allah in your own language, from the bottom of your heart. When you express yourself raw and unfiltered, it comes from a place no script can reach. Myth #4: Dua Should Be Just Demands. The template is Surah Al-Fatihah – it begins with praise and description of Allah, then sending salawat on the Prophet, then the ask. Ibn Taymiyyah would repeat "Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum" every morning – the names of Allah that guarantee a response. The Zakariya ﷺ Template: He spoke to Allah with a silent, broken call. He confessed his weakness: "My bones are weak, my hair is grey." He acknowledged the impossibility: "My wife is barren." But he still asked. Vulnerability, brokenness, and certainty are the keys. How Allah Responds (3 Ways): - He gives you exactly what you asked for – but on His timeline. - He gives you something better than what you asked for. - He protects you from a calamity you didn't know was coming. Be Ambitious in Your Dua: Sulaiman (AS) asked for a kingdom no one after him could have. Don't limit yourself to trivial asks. The One providing for you has no limitations. This lecture will transform how you see dua. Stop treating it like a transaction. Start having a real conversation with your Creator.
