How to GET Ahead The 99% of People | Hisham Abu Yusuf . "If you want any pearl in this world – a righteous spouse, a job opportunity, beneficial knowledge – you have to drown. You have to jump. You have to sink. Hold your breath. Sweat. If you want what is great, you have to take risks." In this powerful and motivational lecture, Ustadh Hisham Abu Yusuf redefines courage and bravery. Not the physical strength of gym muscles, but the inner strength to stand for the truth, to be yourself, to pray in public, to defend the Prophet's ﷺ honor, and to take risks for what matters. He draws from the example of Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (RA), whose thin legs were laughed at but outweighed Mount Uhud in Allah's sight. He reminds us of Musa (AS) who was terrified at the burning bush – but his courage came from Allah, not from self-confidence. In this video, you will learn: - The False Confidence of Physical Strength: Everyone is obsessed with building their bodies, but the strength that matters to Allah is the strength to stand up for what is right. Abdullah ibn Mas'ud's legs were so thin the Sahaba laughed – but the Prophet ﷺ said they were heavier than Mount Uhud. - Where Does Courage Come From? Not from self-confidence or motivational speeches. Musa (AS) was terrified in front of Allah. His courage came from trusting Allah, not himself. The Prophet ﷺ in Hunain, abandoned by his companions, said: "O Allah, I only have You." Confidence must first be in Allah. - The Hypocrisy of Hiding Who You Are: The colleague who went for a "walk" every day instead of telling people he was going to pray. The man who changed his name from Muhammad to "Mo" to fit in. - Preparation + Tawakkul = Courage: The Prophet ﷺ spent the night before Badr in prayer, not in planning. He was ready for the unexpected because he had prepared his iman. Courage comes from preparation and from remembering Allah. - The Modern Intellectual War: Today we are not fighting with arrows and swords. We are fighting with words. People insult the Prophet ﷺ through cartoons and comments. We must defend his honor by teaching who he truly was. This requires intellectual courage. - The Pearl Requires Diving: Imam al-Shafi'i's poetry – you cannot get pearls without diving deep into the sea. You cannot get knowledge by relaxing at home. You must sweat, travel, take risks, face uncertainty. Whether it's marriage, children, job interviews, or seeking knowledge – courage is required. - Courage in Daily Life: Praying Salah in public. Talking to the head teacher about your child's education. Applying for a job. Getting married. Having children. These all require bravery because they involve the unexpected. This lecture will change how you see strength, risk, and what it means to be truly brave. The strongest person is not the one with the biggest muscles, but the one who stands for the truth when it's difficult.
