I Got MARRIED At 18 - Hard Truth About Getting Married Young || Ustadh Hisham Abu Yusuf Full Podcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pOofw2rF2S8&t=1238s . "I got married at 18. Before marriage, if someone had told me, I would have laughed. But marriage matured me, made me responsible, and forced me to step up every time a test came." In this raw and honest lecture, a young speaker (Ustadh Hisham Abu Yusuf) shares his personal journey of getting married as a university student – working 30 hours a week, facing exam failures, sleepless nights with a newborn, and a mental block in Quran memorization. He doesn't paint a rosy picture. Instead, he gives real talk about the challenges, the growth, and the critical role of parental support. He then extracts three powerful principles from the Prophet's ﷺ marital life that every couple needs: letting go of the small stuff, developing playful affection, and using closeness to Allah as the magnet for lasting love. In this video, you will learn: - The Reality of Early Marriage: It's not a fairy tale. There were financial tests, spiritual tests, family tests. He failed exams because his newborn kept him up all night. He slowed down his Quran memorization. But every time, he had to step up because there was no other choice. - The "Man Child" Phenomenon: He knows 34-year-old unmarried men who play PlayStation and watch Netflix all day while their mothers say "my baby is so good, why can't he find a wife?" This is a crisis. Marriage forces growth. The Prophet's ﷺ Three Marital Principles: 1. Let go of the small stuff. Aisha (RA) once broke a dish out of jealousy. The Prophet ﷺ didn't make a scene. He cleaned up, said "your mother became jealous," and moved on. Don't lose your mind over how much milk is in the tea or how clothes are ironed. 2. Develop a playful, joyous relationship. The Prophet ﷺ raced with Aisha, drank from the same spot she drank from. Create little moments of affection. 3. The greatest thing you can do for your marriage is come closer to Allah. Closeness to Allah is a magnet for long-lasting relationships. - The Example of Maryam (AS): Even if you are not married yet – struggling to find a spouse, waiting – use this time to devote yourself to Allah like Maryam did. Allah granted her a miracle child. Don't let singleness be a stumbling block. - The Prophetic Command to Marry Young: The Prophet ﷺ said: "O young people, whoever among you can afford it, let him get married." Explicit. No "maybe delay." In a hypersexualized world, parents must support their children to marry. - A Stern Warning to Parents: The Prophet ﷺ said if someone with good deen and character proposes and you refuse, there will be fitnah and great corruption on earth. Parents are often the biggest blocker. He knows cases where parents stopped marriage and the young person eventually committed zina.
