From @obxospreycam on March 30, 2026. Betsy and Fredrick are together in the nest for the first time since Betsy's return the previous afternoon. Betsy clearly tells him she is ready for business. (A pair of ghostly ducks swims by below towards the end.) Betsy returned March 29 at 3:29:50PM, flying towards the perch from down the channel, towards the nest and Ellie. There were numerous off-camera skirmishes the rest of the day, with Fredrick staying mostly out of it. He must have known who had arrived! These skirmishes shooed away Ellie for good. A little after 10pm, Betsy landed on the nest, alerting, and stayed either on the nest or on the perch the rest of the night. We did not ID her until the morning, especially upon seeing the odd "tail up" behavior in this video. Farewell, Ellie! We thank you for helping Fredrick shoo away all the other ospreys who wanted this nest, leaving the field (almost) clear for Betsy. You eliminated the disruptions, so hopefully Betsy and Fredrick can lay their eggs earlier this year than last year. We wish you success in finding your own mate, sweet Ellie!
