From @obxospreycam on July 30, 2026. Warning; upsetting content of ospreys fighting. Smokey and Bandit are attacked, driven off the nest, and chased by an intruding fledgling osprey (UO for Unknown Osprey). UO is older and larger than Smokey or Bandit. Bandit is eating a fish on the nest, while Smokey is up on the perch. UO lands on the nest, attacks Bandit, gets distracted by Smokey, and attacks Smokey. Smokey and the UO drop to the ground and fight for a few minutes (can hear horrible sounds from them). UO leaves Smokey, flies across the channel, and comes around to drive Bandit off the nest. UO chases Bandit around the channel. A little later, we see Smokey fly from the ground across the channel, and UO chases him too. UO comes back to sit on the nest a while; we get a good look at it. UO then chases Bandit off the perch. Note this was just part of the events of the morning, and more UO action happened in the afternoon. There were a LOT of ospreys flying in and out and here and there. Very easy to get confused as to who is who. In this clip, I tried to just capture basically what happened.
