From @obxospreycam on June 5, 2026. Betsy and Fredrick battle over placement of a large branch (also known as the annual Stick Wars). Fredrick brings in a large gnarly branch, forked at one end, with little twigs sticking out randomly. He plops it on top of Betsy, who's brooding the two chicks. She extricates herself from under the branch, exposing the chicks. Then the battle is joined: Fredrick has one plan for his beautiful branch, while Betsy has a totally different plan for this nuisance. They push and pull, back and forth, tromping on the chicks, poking the chicks with twigs. Fredrick gets stuck inside the fork, giving Betsy an advantage. They take a break, they resume. Finally, Betsy gets the upper hand -- er, beak -- and pushes the branch to the edge of the back railings. Satisfied, Fredrick flies off. Betsy picks up a leftover fish and soothes the kids with a meal.
