Currently Playing: Lindsay Clancy’s Lawyer Kevin Reddington Gives Closing Argument

Early in his closing argument on Thursday, Lindsay Clancy's lawyer Kevin Reddington displayed an enlarged photo of Clancy with her children and now-former husband and one of her hospitalized and asked, "How?" "Because of the damn medicine and the lousy medical care that she got," he said. "You can troop as many paid experts as you want to come in here and tell a jury, 'Oh well, she didn't say that she heard voices inside her head. She said she heard voices from outside her head. She said she was making chicken mcnuggets ... She wasn't making chicken McNuggets Reddington reminded the jury that "even though a person is a defendant in a system of justice, you don't have to defend against anything" :The government has the burden of proof. When the D.A. decides to charge someone with a crime, he has the burden of proof," Reddington said. "His assistants have the burden of proof to prove, number one, that Lindsay is guilty of this offense beyond a reasonable doubt, and then prove, number two, that Lindsay, at the time, killed her children was not suffering from a mental disease or defect that caused her to have a lack of substantial capacity to appreciate, to know, to realize that what was being done while she was in a psychosis, but we'll laugh about that. It's just, just another woman. ... Give her a couple of pills. She'll be all right," Reddington said sarcastically. Clancy, who recently turned 36, was on maternity leave from her job as a labor and delivery nurse when she strnagled 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month old Callan. She is charged with three counts of murder. Jurors can consider manslaughter as a lesser included offense to murder. Reddington spoke for 52 minutes. You can watch his entire argument on my YouTube channel. Eighteen jurors heard testimony in the 22-day trial, which opened on July 27. Twelve are deliberating after Sullivan's clerk randomly selected six to be alternates. Reports from the courtroom say they are nine women and three men, and the foreperson is an older woman. Jurors deliberated about 3 1/2 hours on Thursday and will continue on Friday (August 28, day 23). #law #crime #legal
