The Quran 13:38-39 are often misunderstood, but they offer a powerful reminder of how divine guidance works, and that’s what we’re exploring in this part of the Misunderstood Quranic Verses series. The verses mention prophets, miracles, and the idea that God can erase or confirm whatever He wills. Dr. Shabir Ally explains that these lines respond to two big criticisms of the Prophet Muhammad: why he didn’t perform miracles on demand, and why the Quran’s teachings differ from earlier scriptures. The Quran answers by reminding us that prophets have always been human, and miracles only happen when God allows them. It also teaches that each time period gets the message it needs, all coming from one divine source. While some traditional interpretations suggest everything is already decided by God, others show that things can change, especially through sincere prayer.
