Firefly Episode 1 REACTION | "Serenity" (Pilot) | First Time Watching | Syntell & Leo Syntell and Leo from Geekly Goods react to Firefly Episode 1 — "Serenity," the pilot that Fox shelved until after they cancelled the show. Leo is watching for the very first time. The pilot opens in the middle of the Battle of Serenity Valley — the losing side. Flash forward: Mal Reynolds is running a Firefly-class ship and doing what he can to keep her in the air. This week that means salvaging goods off a derelict transport with an Alliance cruiser closing in, then watching the deal with Badger fall apart, then picking up passengers at Eavesdown Docks because they need the coin. Among those passengers: a young doctor with a too-smooth cover story, a preacher with suspiciously useful hands, and a very large crate that the doctor is very particular about. Somewhere in the mix is a fed. The clumsy one. The Reavers are pushing out further every year. Patience still hasn't forgiven Mal for the last time, which doesn't stop him from trying to sell her the imprinted goods. The deal goes sideways. Mal handles it. Then he handles the fed. Then they run from the Reavers and make it out. Had a good day. The post-reaction is a proper welcome to the 'verse: Leo getting fully reeled in on the first episode, Syntell rediscovering how good this show is after years away. The western-in-space DNA — how it feels like Guardians of the Galaxy and Cowboy Bebop in one thing before either of those existed. Every crew member having distinct weight from minute one. The fake-out with Simon being the suspect while the clumsy Dobson was right in front of everyone. The fake Kaylee death. Mal shooting the fed with zero negotiation. River's storyline — what did they do to her brain, and why does the Alliance want her so badly? Why Fox buried this pilot, what that cost, and why the story-first approach is exactly why it still holds up. Nathan Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds Gina Torres as Zoë Washburne Alan Tudyk as Hoban "Wash" Washburne Morena Baccarin as Inara Serra Adam Baldwin as Jayne Cobb Jewel Staite as Kaylee Frye Sean Maher as Dr. Simon Tam Summer Glau as River Tam Ron Glass as Shepherd Book Mark Sheppard as Badger Bonnie Bartlett as Patience Carlos Jacott as Lawrence Dobson 0:00 – Welcome / Intro 1:24 – Reaction Begins 37:57 – Review & Discussion If you enjoyed the reaction, LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, and drop your favorite moment in the comments! 👇 🔔 Subscribe to Syntell: https://www.youtube.com/c/syntell?sub_confirmation=1 🎬 Watch more with Leo (Geekly Goods): https://www.youtube.com/@GeeklyGoods 🎬 Full uncut reaction on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/syntell 💬 Join the Discord: https://discord.gg/cmvDcq3Y 🛒 Check out our Amazon Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/syntell ⚠️ NOTE: Due to copyright restrictions, this is a cut-down reaction. 👉 For the FULL, uncut reaction, check us out on Patreon — you'll need your own streaming subscription to sync along with us. #Firefly #FireflyReaction #Reaction #NathanFillion #Serenity ____________________________________________________________________ Attributions: Nothing On Me Patrick Patrikios https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VYtG-Jy5oeU - Youtube Audio Library Timeless Slenderbeats https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ImWiUJLOXc - Youtube Audio Library ________________________________________________ Curious about the equipment I use to produce this channel?
