Firefly Season 1 Episode 10 REACTION | "War Stories" | Syntell & Leo (Geekly Goods) Syntell and Leo react to Firefly Season 1, Episode 10 — "War Stories" — and Leo is watching for the first time. Niska has a long memory. Mal is exactly the person he's been waiting to find. What was supposed to be a routine run turns into something that puts the entire crew of Serenity to a test they weren't scheduled to take. The answer to that test is: everyone picks up a weapon. The doctor goes in. The preacher has some very specific thoughts about kneecaps. Kaylee finds her limit — and then River finds hers. This is one of those episodes where you get to see what a crew is actually made of, and Serenity's is not what most people would have guessed. Post-reaction: Leo compares Mal's moment in this one to Jean-Luc Picard being captured by the Borg — the episode where you find out a captain is built different. Syntell and Leo dig into the whole crew rallying, what it says about the difference between a boss and a captain, and why the doctor running into the fire is the kind of thing this show earns. They close with the biggest open question in the room right now: River just did something that nobody can fully explain, and Kaylee may not be looking at her the same way again.
