Currently Playing: I Asked Locals What They Hate About This Remote Japanese Island

I’ve been on Rishiri Island for about a week, and the more time I spend here, the more I wonder what it would actually be like to live here. This time, I met Aya-san, a local YouTuber who shares life on Rishiri Island. I asked her and other locals what they love about living here, but I also wanted to know the other side — what do they hate about it? The community here feels incredibly close, almost like one big family. But I also learned about some of the struggles, including being accepted as a newcomer and the housing problem on the island. There is no perfect place, and that’s exactly why I wanted to hear the reality before thinking about whether this remote Japanese island could someday become my home. Big thanks to Aya-san and everyone who shared their honest thoughts with me! Please check out Aya-san’s channel and support her so she can keep sharing more about Rishiri Island! That’s wassssssuuuupppp!
