Currently Playing: Electric Fields (Physics - Electricity - Course Presentation)

The concept of electric fields is a cornerstone of all topics related to electricity. This is why it is essential to understand what are electric fields, and feel comfortable when manipulating them. This is what this course section is all about: Together, we will dive deep into the foundations of electric fields. You can consult this section on Electric Fields by enrolling to the Course "Electricity, The Basics" on Udemy. "Electric Fields" is the 3rd Section. Access to course: https://www.udemy.com/course/electricity-the-basics/?referralCode=640E55D087C7FDBE5110 Prior to the study of electric Fields, it is advisable to know what is are electric charges and electric forces. You can do so either by taking the full course on Udemy, or by visualizing the sections related to electric forces and electric charges on Skillshare: Electric Charges: https://skl.sh/2vdI4eA Electric Forces: https://skl.sh/3bJZArw If you are not a subscriber to Skillshare, you can consult their whole catalog of courses (included this one) for free for 2 Months by using any of these link! *** What you will learn *** In the words “electric fields”, there is the word “field”. So, the first video focuses on defining what a field is, and from there, it branches to the definition of an electric field. The 2 videos that follow describe in detail the cause and the effect of an electric field, by introducing the notion of electric field strength. These videos are followed by 3 exercise videos where you can train your new knowledge. The last of these exercises shows you how Coulomb’s Law emerges naturally from the notion of electric fields. The 4 lessons and exercise videos after that show you how to manipulate electric fields strengths as vectors. This will teach you to predict how a charge placed in one or more electric fields moves. This naturally leads us to the concept of electric field lines in the next two videos, with a special focus on the two most common electric field geometries: radial fields and uniform fields. The final video is an exam level exercise that centralizes all the notions presented in this course. Follow this course diligently. Work on the exercises. And you will gain a solid understanding of electric fields. Then, you will be able to rely on this new understanding for the study of all the other subjects related to electricity. *** Who is this course for? *** The level of this course corresponds to the last years of high-school physics programs. This makes it an ideal tool as support for the lessons you get at school, and to prepare any high-school diplomas in physics, like for example IB Physics, A-Level Physics, AP Physics etc. In addition, any person that wishes to brush up on the very basics of electricity should find this course useful. If you consider your level in electricity to be literally zero, I recommend you follow the course sequentially: first, start with electric charges (Section 1), then Coulomb’s Law (Section 2) and finally this one, on electric fields (Section 3). *** List of Episodes *** Episode 00 – Introduction Episode 01 – What is an electric field? Episode 02 – Electric field strength part 1 Episode 03 – Electric field strength part 2 Episode 04 – Exercise 1: charged sphere in an electric field Episode 05 – Exercise 2: Electric field of a proton in an hydrogen atom Episode 06 – Exercise 3: Deriving Coulomb’s Law from electric fields.
