In today’s episode of my abandoned general store renovation, I’m tackling another huge step in this historic building restoration while the brick masons finish the final work on the parapet wall rebuild. This week’s video is full of DIY renovation, brick masonry, front exterior repair, and old building transformation footage that shows just how far this restoration project has come. I start the day planning to prep and prime the front of the building, scraping off layers of old, peeling paint and getting everything ready for a fresh coat. But like every good DIY home restoration, things don’t always go to plan. While I was working on the paint scraping, sanding, and exterior prep, the brick masons were completing the last stretch of the parapet wall repair, and what I saw completely changed the pace of the entire day. 🔗 LINKS: 🗝️ Heritage Rowe: https://www.heritagerowe.co 🌼 SUBSTACK: The Daffodil Post: https://substack.com/@emmashaye 📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/holistic__emma/ 🎥 TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@holistic_emma 📩 Sponsorships: emmashaye@influint.co 📩 Other inquiries: efretts@gmail.com Most music in this video is by Sion Louks: https://open.spotify.com/artist/7a2Mag7TLcj23ymUB7prkJ?si=ei6b2zMxQOmxXUctf8Ghgw This video includes: • Brick masons finishing parapet wall reconstruction • Historic brick repair and mortar work • Scraping old paint off a historic storefront • DIY home restoration progress • Exterior paint prep and priming steps • Unexpected challenges in old building renovation • Major transformation on the front of the general store • Before-and-after renovation progress • Structural repair on an abandoned commercial building • Big reveal coming soon This general store makeover has been a massive project — from structural repairs and brick restoration to roof fixes, subfloor replacement, and bringing this entire abandoned property back to life step by step. If you love historical restoration, old building makeovers, DIY construction, homestead renovation, and watching a forgotten structure turn into something beautiful, this episode is packed with the kind of progress that makes the entire project worth it. I know so many of you have been following this DIY renovation series, and this week shows a major turning point. The parapet wall, which was crumbling from years of water damage, is now rebuilt, leveled, and restored — and the difference it makes to the building’s façade is unbelievable. Seeing the top of the structure restored changes the entire look of this abandoned storefront renovation. And YES — the antique Christmas cards from Heritage Rowe (salvaged from inside the store during earlier clean-outs) are officially LIVE now. So many of you have been asking, and they are finally available on the site.
