This week, the 120-year-old windows in my abandoned general store restoration are FINALLY starting to look like windows again - and I decided to make a pretty big change to the original color scheme. After rebuilding the historic window sashes from scratch, it was time to fill and sand the joinery, prime everything, and finally PAINT them. I originally planned on keeping the exterior of the general store white and grey, but after living with those colors for a few months, something just wasn't clicking. So with a little help from my sister, I chose a completely different color - a soft, muted green called Contented by Sherwin-Williams. And I think I might like this SO much better. Seeing these sashes painted for the first time was also a pretty surreal moment. Some of them started out covered in layers of old paint, and others I had to completely rebuild to match the original windows. After weeks of cutting, fitting, gluing, filling, sanding, priming, and painting, we're getting closer and closer to actually putting these windows back where they belong.
