Before coming back to Yangshuo, people warned me that the place I fell in love with years ago had become too commercialized and lost its magic. Well… they were right about ONE thing. The center is definitely busy and commercialized. But get out into the countryside and WOW — this is the Yangshuo I remember. 🇨🇳❤️ And being surrounded by scenery like this got me thinking: people travel thousands of miles to see these mountains… but what if you were born here? Can you grow up in paradise and eventually stop noticing it? We also struck gold with our hotel. It’s tucked away in the countryside with absolutely ridiculous views, and the owner is an incredibly friendly woman who, coincidentally, is also from northeast China! 😂 She speaks perfect English, which makes this place especially easy to recommend to international travelers. And somehow there’s a fantastic Italian restaurant here too — genuinely delicious food in the middle of the Yangshuo countryside. 🇮🇹🍕⛰️ Yangshuo hasn’t lost its magic.
