Adapted from Tom King’s acclaimed comic, Supergirl Woman of Tomorrow, this film redefines Kara Zor-El by going back to the origin that sets her apart from Superman. The Supergirl trailer leans into that world-weary, punk-cosmic tone, really emphasizing Kara and Krypto's connection and Kara's isolation. This trailer is better than the first, giving us a clearer idea of the tone and narrative. We see more of Kara and Ruthye's dynamic, along with our first real look at Jason Momoa's Lobo and the chaos he brings into the mix. Director Craig Gillespie brings his signature flair for messy, complicated female protagonists, and the cosmic action feels right at home in Gunn’s DCU. If Superman reintroduced the ideals of the House of El, Supergirl explores what happens when someone who has every reason to abandon those ideals chooses to fight for them anyway. Trauma, hope, found family, and cosmic grit all collide in what looks like a bold future for the DCU.
