Planets have been discovered when light from a selected star is observed and analyzed methodically. In many cases within these solar systems, we learn about each planet's mass, orbital period, and atmospheric composition. In studying over a dozen known solar systems, their planets are found at ever increasing distances from their parent star—while the rate of increase at the size of the orbit follows a simple exponential function. Although, each system examined has a slightly different rate of exponential growth. Consider the potential of a force-free, counter rotating plasma around a Birkeland current. When an electric current flows through a plasma, the plasma rotates in shells. Could a naturally occurring rotating plasma shell around an electric force correspond to planet locations—and clarify the physics of solar system formation?
