Garden tower defense

Currently Playing: Are Chronorchid and MortarFern Worth It in Garden Tower Defense?

Two new exclusive units are on the test server in Garden Tower Defense — Chrono Orchid and Mortar Fern. Here's everything they do, and why one of them made me want to throw my keyboard. CHRONO ORCHID: 12 range, 24 AoE, 2 to 1 second attack speed. It places up to three crystals on the track. Enemies that touch a crystal break it and get teleported BACKWARDS along the track. Its ability is a full time stop that pauses enemy progress. It doesn't look like it deals damage, but the crowd control potential is real. MORTAR FERN: infinite range, 14 AoE, 25,160 DPS, acid damage, 5 to 2 seconds per attack. On paper this is one of the strongest units in the game. The catch: Mortar Fern does NOT target enemies automatically. You have to manually use the Set Target ability to tell it where on the map to fire — every single time. No auto targeting, no auto upgrade path around it. All that damage and you spend the entire match babysitting one unit. We took the team into Garden Grind Impossible to test them properly. Team: Prism Leaf, Butterfly Hut, Lucky Clover, Chrono Orchid, Watering Can, Holographic Clover and Mortar Fern. Are these worth buying? My honest opinion at the end. Note: these are test server units, so stats and costs could still change before release. GIVEAWAY: Leave a comment for your chance to win a Chrono Orchid!
