“I saved everyone else, but I couldn't save me.” A Very Slow Burial is a heavy doom metal song about giving too much of yourself away until endurance stops feeling like strength and starts becoming a slow form of destruction. It follows the cost of blind loyalty, sacrifice, and carrying everyone else while quietly disappearing underneath the weight. Slow cello, crushing doom riffs, sludgy bass, pounding drums, dark atmospheric layers, haunting female vocals, and explosive screams build the track from exhausted restraint into a violent emotional collapse. A VERY SLOW BURIAL // OFFICIAL LYRICS They call it strength. They applaud you for holding the sky from falling. But they don't see the bones fracturing underneath. Endurance isn't a virtue... It's just a very slow burial. I bought their comfort with the currency of my youth. I smiled through the grit and I swallowed the truth. The lines on my face are the debts I never owed. Walking for miles on a solitary road. I traded my reflection to give them the light. Now I am a stranger, alone in the night. The silence is deafening when you stop being useful. The hands that you warmed are incredibly brutal. I burned myself alive to keep you in the thaw! I played the willing martyr to a merciless law! There is no glory in a sacrifice so blind! Just a hollow shell of the soul I left behind! Left behind! We romanticize the suffering, We crown the bleeding heart. But nobody is there When the structure falls apart. The loyalty I offered was a poison in my tea. I saved everyone else, but I couldn't save me. I poured out my spirit to fill up your cup. And now I'm the one who cannot get back up. No reward! No paradise! Just the ashes of a wasted sacrifice! My blood! My time! Left to rot for a victimless crime! I burned myself alive to keep you in the thaw! I played the willing martyr to a merciless law! There is no glory in a sacrifice so blind! Just a hollow shell of the soul I left behind! The fire is out. I have nothing left to burn.
