We finally have new information about the Vietnam Airlines Boeing 787 tail strike in Munich, and the preliminary investigation raises a major new question: did pilot action contribute to what happened? Investigators recorded brake activity during the takeoff roll as the aircraft struggled to accelerate and eventually ran out of paved runway before becoming airborne. The 787 struck airport equipment, suffered a tail strike, and returned safely to Munich. Captain Steeeve breaks down the new data, what it may tell us about the crew’s actions during takeoff, and whether human error could have played a role in this incident.
