New video evidence may reveal an even more frightening detail about the attempted hijacking of Flydubai Flight 1073. While reviewing passenger footage from inside the Boeing 737, Captain Steeeve noticed the cabin’s emergency evacuation lights illuminated while the aircraft was still in flight. Those lights raise an important question: did the airplane lose its normal electrical power because both engines were shut down? Other Boeing 737 pilots reviewing the footage have now raised the same possibility, and reports say investigators are looking into whether the engine fuel-control switches were moved from RUN to CUTOFF. Captain Steeeve breaks down what those emergency lights can tell us, what would happen if both engines were shut down at altitude, and whether this could help explain the aircraft’s extraordinary descent.
