Batman’s greatest enemy has never been the Joker, or Two-Face, or Ra’s al Ghul, it’s doubt. In the Batman: The Animated Series episode I Am The Night, Batman faces a true crisis of faith. After Commissioner Gordon is shot and Gotham’s darkness feels endless, Batman begins to wonder if he’s ever made a difference at all. This video explores how I Am The Night turns inward, revealing that Gotham’s greatest battle isn’t fought in the streets, but in Batman’s soul. We’ll look at how each character responds to Gordon’s shooting, why Jazzman perfectly represents the city’s decay, and how one small victory, saving a lost kid, reminds Batman why he fights at all. It’s not about winning the war on crime. It’s about propping up the ruins, holding the line, and realising that even small victories matter.
