In a world without gold we'd probably be looking for silver or something. Get 20% when buying G Fuel: https://www.gfuel.com/THATBOYAQUA So I got the chance to watch the Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced trailer early, and see some behind the scenes content, and guys, I don’t say this lightly, but we might be so fucking back. For context, I have always been not just skeptical of new Assassin’s Creed releases, but of their remasters, because both Assassin’s Creed 3 and the ezio games got mangled, and disappointed me greatly, though, liberation came out ahead in that case, but the point is, I had very low expectations, and not just because I generally don’t like remakes, but because I was convinced that this game would be an RPG, and that they would ultimately turn this into one of their more poorly received RPGs. You gotta remember, while modern Ubisoft games have their shooters, and I’m one of them, A Black Flag remake, in my opinion, should be made with the original fans in mind. I think it’s safe to say, that’s exactly what Ubisoft did. Before we dive deeper, I just want to mention that I was given early access to this footage, and that I am part of the ubisoft creator program, so I get free game keys occasionally, and there's obviously a ton of bias here because I have been playing Assassin’s Creed for two thirds of my life by this point. So without further adieu, let’s talk about the biggest concern I had going into this reveal. So, I know that a lot of you don’t like the RPG games, and I’m not here to judge, but I have been saying for ages that if we get a black flag remake, it’s gonna be an RPG because that’s just how modern Assassin's Creed is handled these days. So imagine my surprise when their exact fucking words are “this is not an RPG” and when the gameplay reflects that sentiment. Sorry, I don’t mean to be too hyped here but my expectations were in the floor, and I’m not saying there aren’t potential problems here, but I’m just saying that this was one of the few times in the last half a decade where I thought to myself, wow, they really give a shit. Notice how Edward isn’t wearing a bunch of different outfits, different gear pieces that cobble together into a crime against fashion all so we can maximise our damage negation. Notice how the combat has no health bars, and that, while there are abilities like we’ve seen in previous entries, they seem to be much more toned down and provide room for some excellent takedowns. I also like that the art style has seemingly been maintained despite the textures and level of detail seeing a massive boost. I’ll maintain that I don’t think Black Flag needs a remake, it’s still a great game, and it’s still accessible, but if we’re getting one, THIS is the way I want it to be, and it gets better because they said that the original games will not be delisted and will still be purchasable. Ok, let’s get into the nitty gritty with the parkour, because that’s something I was most skeptical of. The best parkour in a while was in Mirage, and even then, I won’t pretend like we were ever doing more than accurately reminiscing about the golden age. With Black Flag remastered, we get side ejects and back ejects off rip, and it seems to be functioning in a similar vein to Mirage, which is good, mostly, but there are some issues. The stop and go from Mirage, looks to be back here. I can’t tell for certain, but as we see Edward jumping across different ledges in succession, it seems like he stops for just a bit too long. It prevents the movement from feeling a fluid as it should be, and kills the sense of momentum. We aren’t hopping from one platform to the next, we're jumping, stopping, jumping again, and so on. We can also see some animations that are a bit different from the original when scaling things vertically. The Black Flag remake has been in discussion for a long time, and recently, it got a title of Black Flag Resynced, and while I was initially skeptical of an assassins creed black flag remake, especially given what the last few Assassins Creed games were like, I think, after seeing this assassins creed black flag remake showcase, and a snippet of the new black flag resynced gameplay, I'm ready to head straight back to the Carribean. The black flag remake reveal or otherwise black flag remake trailer, just dropped, and I have some new footage on top of it to show you. This is not a black flag remake review or black flag resynced review however, these are just my black flag resynced impressions.
