Are you saying “yes” at the exact same time you reward your dog? 🐕 That small timing mistake can change what your dog actually learns. For a marker to become meaningful, it needs to predict the reward. Say the marker → pause briefly → then deliver the reward. The marker pinpoints the exact moment your dog performs the behavior you want, while the reward comes afterward. Once your dog becomes conditioned to that sound, you may actually see their behaviour change the moment they hear it, licking their lips, moving their body, wagging their tail, or becoming more alert.
