In this clip, Nate Schoemer explains why we should reward our dogs for taking steps toward the final behavior instead of only rewarding them once they complete the entire exercise. A dog may start by putting one paw on the bed, then two paws. By rewarding those small successes, we help the dog understand that trying leads to success. This can make them more willing to keep working instead of becoming frustrated and walking away.
