Example:There are 6 C atoms and 14 H atoms in a hexane molecule, which has a molecular formula of C6H14. 01:52 - 02:47 :-Definiton of Structural Formula The structural formula of a chemical compound is a graphic representation of the molecular structure (determined by structural chemistry methods), showing how the atoms are possibly arranged in the real three-dimensional space. 02:48 - 05:28 :-Types of Structural Formula A)Expanded Structural Formula-Expanded structural formula shows all of the bonds in the compound.It shows or represents the compounds in chain strucutres.Example-Butene. B)Condensed Structural Formula-Condensed structural formula omits most or all of the bonds. Example-Butane in condensed form is written as CH3-CH2-CH2-CH3.
