Topics covered in this lecture of Basic Terms of Organic Chemistry (Class 11 &12 | IIT JEE Main & Advanced) by N.S Sir with timestamps are as follows:- 00:00 - 13:00 :- Rules for Resonating Structures :- a)In resonance structures, only the position of electrons changes, the rest of the atoms and molecules remain in their designated positions. b)The number of unpaired electrons must remain the same in all the resonance structures. c)Unlike charges in canonical structures should be close to situated atoms. d)The positive charge should be near the less electronegative atom as much as possible, whereas the negative charge must be near or on the electronegative atom. e)The energies of all the resonance structures should be equal. f)The more the number of bonds in canonical structures, the more the contribution of the structure to the real molecule. g)Remember that charged structures shows less contribution in comparison to uncharged structures. h)Structures that have more covalent bonds have more contribution to resonance structures. i)The more remarkable the number of resonance structures, the more stable the resonance hybrid. 13:00 - 16:00 :-Example of resonating structure has been explained.
