Now that the golden days of summer are just a hazy memory, this is the perfect time to talk about a game that's full to the brim with summer vibes, the beachcombing, water spraying, getting thrown in jail and forced to do community service-ing adventure we know as Super Mario Sunshine. It's a crazy game with lots of wild ideas, but its very flukiness is precisely what makes it so much fun for those of us who think of Mario as a world first and a set of challenges second. And while no Mario game since has dared to walk in its sandy footsteps openly, in its own way it left a more important legacy of ideas to the series than you may have first suspected.
