There are two video game designers who have done more than anybody else to define the Mario franchise and what it stands for in the video game world. Of the two, by far the more famous one is Shigeru Miyamoto, the original creator of Mario back when he was called "Jumpman", and a legendary figure both inside and outside Nintendo.
