We love that so many different types of storage are built into this piece - hooks, shelves, and key magnets. We also like that we were able to make it with a pretty limited amount of tools and inexpensive lumber. Something like this could also be used as a display shelf in a kids room (trophies on top, coats and backpack on bottom). I think it would be interesting to add lips on the left and right side of the mail holder as well to turn that spot into a catch all. Also, we love the hooks we bought for this! They were SO much cheaper than most traditional coat hooks we found, they're simple and modern, and they're big enough to double up with coats.
