Around 1:00pm on Saturday, May 5th, 2007, Fujin-Raijin II at Expoland in Suita, Japan, was operating normally. While it was coasting over its second hill, a loud crack was heard. The coaster continued banging through its twisted layout until the section following the double helix. Here a catastrophic failure occurred.
