‘Hey Then Up Go We’ is an English satirical song from the first English Civil War, published in 1646. The song was written to mock the the Roundhead and Puritan causes, each verse describing some at the time egregious acts of a puritan government, such as tearing down churches, closing universities or even forcing nobility and the common man to bend the knee alike. Of course, I don’t believe the author knew how accurate his song would end up being. This recording was done by the ‘City Waites’
