A folk song popular in England, Ireland and Scotland. The song is about a young man named Willy and his lover, Polly, lamenting over his conscription to fight in Germany. The historical setting of the song is most likely either the War of the Spanish Succession or the Seven Years War, but it remained relevant as it can be used in the context of any war fought in Germany (Which there were many).. Performed by 'The Dubliners'. The film is 'Barry Lyndon'. I would highly recommend it. I do *not* own the rights to the song or the film in this video. This is for educational purposes only.
